Who says all radio these days is wack?

Terrestrial radio?

Well yeh.. that does blow.

But that’s why God and Al Gore invented the Internet!

At about 5pm tonight (Pacific Time) be sure to hop over to Arecibo Radio for a new web streaming show..

kRhmye’s Live Rap Battle and Cypher

In a nut shell.. it’s a bi-weekly, live online spot for nerd rappers to meet and sharpen their skills. There are one-on-one freestyles, previews and updates of new projects, and lots more.

I don’t know about anything like it happening anywhere else on the Net.

You can stream and listen to the last show in its entirety right here:
http://areciboradio.org/radio.html

I assume that tonight’s show will be made available for streaming afterwards as well. So if you’re just reading this and it’s like Saturday morning, you should be able to follow those links and find both shows archived and waiting for ya.

Angelo Worthy.. Rhymes for the Mind

Woke up this morning and look what I found in my inbox. Have been bumping these joints all afternoon since. Beats are a lil thin and simple, mostly made up of breezy jazz samps, but that’s good cause this is some intellectual, well thought out rhythmic material lacing em up.

Poetic and near spoken word come to mind in some of the delivery, but just listening to the lyrics and there ain’t no doubts that Angelo is a true Hip Hop mc. As far as I know, he has no EP or album out, these are just a few brand new tracks he recently tossed up on the web.

Some deep rhymes and wordplay here, for the higher brow rap fans. The standout track to me was “If the Shoe fits”, which puts current mainstream Hip Hop artists in check. I’ve included it below:

Angelo Worthy – If the Shoe Fits (then this song is about you).mp3

If you’re feelin it, download all all 6 of his new tracks here:

Uberdudes – Nerds for Life

[youtube z91NFYf-sow nolink]

To say this fails would make the word fail look bad.

So yup take this one as a what not to do in nerd rap. Also, anyone who can make it to the end of the video, hit us up and we’ll send you a free t shirt or some HHN stickers or something. You deserve it.

It’s a damn shame when wouldbe fans come across this garbage first and then write off all Nerdy Hip Hop as rubbish.

Uberdudes, you get the HipHopNerds.com fuck off and die award.

“This should be played at high volume, preferably in a residential area”

It’s all about the steez

That last editorial on Kabuto the Python got me wondering about some mainstream Hip Hop artists that have gimmick voiced their way onto the charts. Here are a couple that jump right to mind..

B-Real of Cypress Hill – The Frankie Valli of rappers, plugged nose and raw as fuck.

Son Doobie of Funkdoobiest - I know I heard somewhere that he’s B-Real’s lil bro, but wiki ain’t got my back on that so don’t repeat.

Grandmaster Pink – Nerdier Than You

Grandmaster Pink, a really solid mc from Australia. He is like a throwback to that old school Hip Hop from back in the day, when fun and a hype party vibe was top priority.

‘Scuse us while we play catch up

In case you’re wondering why we are tossing up albums that have been out for a few months now.

So much good music has been released in ‘09. We want HHN.com to include as much of it as possible. Plus, there are not as many hot albums dropping right now. So it’s a perfect time to shine some light back on a few albums which are old enough to not be making the blog circuits anymore, but are still fresh enough on the scene that there are undoubtedly new listeners to be found.

Random – Mega Ran 9

I’m not a big fan of the album art. Come on, homie, you have a Capcom license. Damn. Badger those mofo’s for some high-res images!

This is another album where you are asked to detach yourself from some of your hard earned cashola. I grabbed the limited free version when it came out. It didn’t have all of the tracks, but what was on there was good, if you like video game based Hip Hop.

You can still download a few preview tracks, and if you are impressed enough, order the complete album..
